Rise in Electricity and Oil (Diesel) Costs over 10 Years

… we have fast-rising prices of electricity—5 percent rate increases per year since 2000—the fourfold increase in oil prices since 1999 is a much bigger problem in terms of economics than our electricity problem.

The fourfold increase in oil (Diesel) prices over 12 years works out to about 12% compounded annual growth rate. If these costs continued to grow at similar pace over the next 20 years, if not at even faster rate for Diesel as some analysts predict, investing today in a solar power plant with zero fuel costs for 20 years will be one of the smartest investments a business owner can make.
