India’s multi-billion rooftop market takes off! Serra Power is sweetly positioned

From the 30 MW installed base, Distributively Generated (DG) solar is expected to grow to 40 GW under India’s ambitious goal for 2022.

Serra Power is well positioned having invested two years in the highest tariff and most industrialized state of Maharashtra building partnerships, developing, sourcing and installing commercial rooftops. We are launching the Serra Power Deccan brand in neighboring Hyderabad to hit the ground running in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, states with an almost non-existent installed base.

Is India’s 100 GW solar road map feasible?

In the upcoming financial year, the government wants to install 7 GW, of which 3 GW is to be of rooftop solar. That is a 100-fold increase from the current total rooftop capacity.

India 2015-2020 100GW projection by segments

Commercial rooftops, part of our mission and a primary focus, are driven by the economics of cheaper on-site power and are thus free of policy support or obstacles.  We developed and commissioned the very first commercial rooftop in the states Vidarbha region in 2012, which was fully paid for by the customer on the sole basis of cost savings. Cost saving continues to be the main driver for businesses just as the payback period has shrunk considerably.
